Live baccarat is baccarat dealt by a real person with real cards, filmed in a studio and streamed to your screen as it happens. You watch the dealer pull cards from a physical shoe, the result is read off the cards, and the table's scoreboard updates for everyone watching. It is the same punto banco game played in casinos, not a computer simulation. This page explains how a live table actually works, what changes compared with a casino floor, and what does not.
| Live baccarat | Digital / RNG baccarat | |
|---|---|---|
| Who deals | A human dealer in a studio | Software |
| Cards | Physical cards from a shoe (usually 8 decks) | A random number generator, often reshuffled every round |
| Pace | Fixed by the table — 60–80 rounds an hour, 120+ on speed tables | As fast as you click |
| Shared results | Everyone at the table sees the same round | Each player has their own game |
| Scoreboard | One public scoreboard per table, for the whole shoe | Often none, or only your own history |
| Rules and odds | Standard punto banco | Standard punto banco |
The last row matters most: the drawing rules and payouts are the same, so the house edge is the same — 1.06% on Banker and 1.24% on Player (see baccarat odds). The difference is in pace and in the fact that a live shoe is dealt down card by card instead of being reshuffled.
On a standard table this takes roughly 45–60 seconds; on a speed baccarat table about 25–30 seconds. Some tables add a squeeze, where the cards are revealed slowly for drama — it changes the timing, never the result.
A live table deals from an 8-deck shoe of 416 cards. A cut card is placed near the end, and when it appears the shoe is finished and a new shuffled shoe begins — roughly every 80 rounds. That is why live tables show a scoreboard that starts empty and fills up over 40–80 minutes, then resets.
Because cards are dealt without replacement, the composition of what is left in the shoe does shift slightly as it is dealt. In theory that can change the odds, but the effect on the main bets is tiny: in our simulations of complete card tracking with the cut card one deck from the end, a positive Banker or Player bet appeared in essentially 0% of rounds. The details are in baccarat card counting.
Every live table shows its results as "roads". The two you will use most:
| Road | What it shows | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Bead plate | Every round in order, including ties | Read down each column, left to right |
| Big road | Banker and Player runs; ties marked on the previous cell | A new column starts each time the winner changes |
| Big eye boy, small road, cockroach pig | Whether the big road is repeating its earlier shape | Red = repeating, blue = changing; they describe, not predict |
The roads are a record of what already happened. They make a live table easy to follow and to study, but they do not change the odds of the next round. Our step-by-step guide to the big road shows how each cell is placed.
We record results from the live tables of the two biggest studios, Evolution and Pragmatic Play, and publish them as an open list of live baccarat rooms with each table's current shoe and big road. A few things stand out from watching them every day:
| In an 80-round shoe | Expected |
|---|---|
| Banker wins | About 37 |
| Player wins | About 36 |
| Ties | About 7.6 |
| Chance of a run of 6+ on one side somewhere | About 69% |
| Chance of a run of 8+ on one side somewhere | About 23% |
Long runs are normal. A shoe with a seven-in-a-row is not a broken table; it happens in about 42% of shoes.
A live table uses physical cards and a fixed drawing rule, and its results are visible to everyone at the table at the same moment. That makes it straightforward to check over many shoes whether outcomes match the expected frequencies, which is one reason we publish results openly. What no table can offer is a way to beat the house edge: every bet on every live table loses a small percentage on average. Live baccarat is legal in some countries and illegal in others — check the law where you live.
